“The Book of Mormon” one of many planned “Hello” events in Rapid City this fall

RAPID CITY, SD — As summer begins to wind down, The Monument is gearing up for an exciting season this fall, including a visit to one of Broadway’s biggest shows.

The award-winning musical “The Book of Mormon” will make a three-day stopover in Rapid City, which generated a lot of buzz when it was initially announced. With book, music and lyrics from “South Park” creators Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Academy Award-winning songwriter Robert Lopez, the show won nine Tony Awards in 2011, including Best Comedy musical.

Tickets are currently on sale for the three performances scheduled for October.

“People were just excited when we announced it,” said Heather Jasnoch, ad strategist for The Monument. “They would instantly call us, instantly send us emails saying ‘when will it be on sale, when will it be on sale. So we’re excited to finally have that date to bring people here to experience it.

“The Book of Mormon,” however, is just one of the biggest shows coming to the region. A tour of the Long Island Medium is also featured.

The Monument has a huge range of concerts, sporting events and conventions in store – with a wide variety of events offering something for everyone in the months ahead.

“We are everything in between. So we really like to be spread out, we like to include everybody,” Jasnoch said. “We have the return of Rush hockey in October, so we are excited to have sports back. And being able to have that demographic and gender for just about everyone is really exciting.
