Some of the greatest manga have color versions that fans have no idea. What are some of the best out there?

Many seasoned manga readers know the basics of reading and collecting, and most manga will immediately tell readers if they’ve started reading it wrong. Additionally, serious collectors usually know which volumes and editions are the most difficult to obtain.

However, not everyone is aware of the color versions of different manga series. Some manga are originally printed in color, while others that have gained popularity are released in color to provide more exciting content for fans. No matter the reason, manga fans are always excited to see new content.

Chii’s Sweet Home is ideal for beginners

For the beginning manga reader, one of the best color series is Chi’s Sweet Home. This story is written and illustrated by Kanata Konami and follows a lost kitten who is taken in by a caring family. The tale is light, heartwarming, and the perfect manga for those just starting out. The story was originally serialized in black and white, but the published volumes are in color. To make things even easier for English readers, the English version reads from left to right like a traditional comic book. The colors make the story even more enjoyable and exciting for young readers tackling their first manga.

Best of Attack on Titan: In Color is a worthy addition to the franchise

the best of attack on titan in color manga

Success Story Fans The attack of the Titans will be delighted to learn that the most exciting chapters are compiled in volumes entitled Best of Attack on Titan: In Color. What’s so fascinating about these volumes is the ability to revisit some of the manga’s best battles and scenes while seeing the story in full color. Everything readers may have wondered about how the scenes would appear in the real world now have a chance to see for themselves by picking up these volumes. There are also several editions of the series such as the “special edition” and the “colossal edition”. These full color chapter compilations are another great thing for fans to add to their collection.

Akira is a rarity for serious manga collectors

An image of Akira lying on a chair, surrounded by motorcycle parts

For the really serious collectors, there are hard-to-find color versions. One of the most impactful tales that has influenced the media since its release is Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo. Even though Akira is one of the most popular stories in the world, the color manga is no longer in print. All six volumes were published in color in the 1990s before the translations were revised. These colorful volumes are perfect for manga collectors looking for something rare to add to their collection. A hardcover box set was released in 2017 to honor the 35th anniversary of Akira. Unfortunately, it’s unclear if a new color version could be the next step in this story.

There are many color versions of manga available for purchase in physical and downloadable formats. Colorful manga chapters and volumes help show the creators’ intentions for character and environment design, as well as help readers see wonderful stories in an exciting way. Whether for new readers or collectors, color manga releases are enjoyable and impact the industry’s fan base.

The momentum anomaly was first commercialized by Mark Carhart in the 1990s and has served many traders well over the past decades. Over the years, derivatives of momentum investing have surfaced, but Blackrock (NYSE:noir) iShares Edge MSCI USA Momentum Factor ETF (BATS:MTUM) is an old-school price momentum ETF that seeks alpha by leveraging various cross-sectional and time-series momentum techniques.

VBN

Methodology (Black Rock)

Despite our huge respect for BlackRock, we think this ETF doesn’t make much sense because it doesn’t focus on influencing factors that might thwart its statistical methodology.

Today’s analysis is not about price speculation. Instead, it serves the purpose of improving market transparency by dissecting a thematic approach that many might misunderstand.

Chart
Data by YCharts

The Momentum Factor Explained

transverse momentum

Momentum abnormalities occur in two formats. The first is transverse momentum, which seeks to invest in stocks that have outperformed the market over the past 12 months. The method behind the madness is that investors stay invested in stocks longer than they ideally should; therefore, you can make a profit by rotating in and out of momentum stocks.

Empirical evidence suggests that the transverse momentum works. However, it is not easy to apply and manage.

Time Series Momentum

Time series momentum strategies involve investing in stocks that have gone up in value over the previous 12 months and staying invested until the momentum trend fades. It is similar to the cross swing; however, the difference is that you are not looking at quantiles of the market where the upper quantile of the best performing stocks will be bought and the lower quantile will be avoided (or sold). Instead, time series dynamics are used in isolation.

Again, empirical evidence suggests that the strategy is working; however, it is difficult to enforce and manage.

Why MTUM’s momentum is polarized

I’ll just come out and say it; this dynamic ETF is unlikely to produce superior results because it does not put enough emphasis on sector allocation.

VBN

MTUM sector allocation (Looking for Alpha)

The ETF has significant exposure to the energy sector, which is a dangerous ploy. Energy stocks are extremely cyclical and their record earnings of the past year should not be overstated; there will come a day when reversion to the mean will set in.

Energy supply shortages will eventually be filled and oil and gas prices will likely retreat. Based on the charts below, it is evident that oil and gas prices are already beginning to decline after soaring during the pandemic and exacerbating as the Russian-Ukrainian war unfolded. Additionally, the risk of a global recession is extremely high and, historically speaking, resource prices fall off a cliff every time the economy begins to contract.

Chart
Data by YCharts

Basically, I want to make it clear that energy stocks won’t prosper forever and they will eventually pull back. Additionally, energy stocks are volatile and can fall sharply, often inflicting significant losses.

Below is a table of the ETF’s top energy stocks and their fundamental valuation metrics for you to gain more insight into.

Store Rate-Book Course-Benefit % of portfolio
Chevron (NYSE: CVX) 2.29 10.87 4.96%
ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) 2.53 8.98 5.74%

Source: Alpha Research

The ETF’s defensive exposure to healthcare and consumer can be viewed as positive in today’s troubled economy, as these are counter-cyclical industries. However, I don’t understand how you will build momentum if you have broad exposure to sectors such as real estate, financials and technology; they would likely move in the opposite direction of the energy plays throughout the business cycle. Thus, you would likely see a lot of compensation in the portfolio throughout the economic cycle, preventing the ETF from eclipsing the broader market.

The table below shows some of the ETF’s countercyclical holdings along with their key valuation metrics. It’s up to you, as the reader, to assess the situation; they look a bit overpriced.

Store Rate-Book Course-Benefit % of portfolio
United Health (NYSE: UNH) 6:30 p.m. 23.58 4.91%
Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) 6.05 5:34 p.m. 4.22%
Costco (NASDAQ:COST) 11.29 39.67 2.94%

Valuation, dividends and cost

At first glance, the ETF appears overvalued as its price-to-book ratio is trading at an excess over that of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY). Additionally, the ETF’s PE ratio exceeds that of the SPY by 1.19x.

Ultimately, it should come as no surprise that the momentum ETF’s valuation metrics are higher than the general market ETF’s, since it’s an allocation into momentum stocks that will have multiples higher prices by default. However, I would still feel uncomfortable investing in an overvalued ETF with low growth constituents (implied by the ETF’s low beta).

VBN

BlackRock iShares

Although the ETF presents a robust and consistent dividend, it does not pay a pulse-pounding dividend. In our opinion, a dividend yield of 1.50% is something you could earn from your account without risk and does not add much value.

VBN

Looking for Alpha

If you want to invest in this ETF, you will not be disappointed with its cost attributes. The ETF has lower expenses than most, providing investors with a way to access dynamic strategies without incurring substantial portfolio rebalancing costs.

VBN

Looking for Alpha

Final Thoughts

Based on our analysis, this Momentum ETF could be thwarted by a polarized sector allocation, which could be one of the main reasons why it has underperformed the broader market over the past 5-year economic cycle. . The ETF follows an empirical strategy designed to outperform the market, but has failed to do so lately; so, combining recent returns with its lofty valuation metrics, we conclude that the ETF is not ideally placed to capitalize on momentum anomalies.

WILMINGTON, NC, Nov. 12, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ — A recent article in “Current Affairs” by Nathan J. Robinson draws parallels between the conduct of Russian soldiers in Ukraine and that of American soldiers during the American war in Vietnam . Although he agrees with some of what was written, Jack Billups, best-selling author of “My Vietnam,” “got upset when a 1971 New York Times article was used to substantiate Robinson’s similarities”. This 1971 article started in part:

“The men themselves are fed up with war and conscription, questioning orders, deserting, dumping, smoking marijuana, shooting heroin, robbing their buddies, throwing racial epithets and stones at their brothers Their leaders, trained to handle a different kind of crisis, often seem as bewildered as the rawest recruits, compromising, innovating, ordering strategic retreats from tradition, throwing away the training manual, all with a unusual flexibility Desertion rate skyrockets, so they remove bed checks and allow psychedelic posters on barracks walls Troops are bored, so they take them skiing and put beer dispensers in the common room The troops refuse to advance, so they discuss it with them and try to find another way.

Billups had this to say:

In my book, “My VIETNAM – A gift for my daughter”, I addressed the subject of a one-sided, biased and exaggerated view propagated by the media; and is still perceived as the truth to this day. There is a very different assessment once the facts are presented, the flip side so to speak.

Veteran Success: American Wings »
Vietnam veterans made up 9.7% of their generation.
They have a lower unemployment rate than the same non-vet age groups.
Their personal income exceeds that of our non-veteran age group by more than 18%.
There is no difference in drug use between Vietnam veterans and non-Vietnamese veterans in the same age group (Source: Veterans Administration Study).
Vietnam veterans are less likely to be in prison – only half a percent of Vietnam veterans have been imprisoned for crimes.
85% of Vietnam veterans have successfully transitioned to civilian life.
97% of Vietnam veterans have been honorably discharged.
91% of Vietnam veterans say they are happy to have served.
74% say they would serve again, even knowing the outcome.

Then there’s this, from We Are The Mighty:

• The project did not unfairly target the working class or minorities.
The demographics of the troops deployed in Vietnam were close to mirroring the demographics of the United States at the time. 88.4% of troops deployed in Vietnam were Caucasian, 10.6% were African American, and 1% were of other races. The 1970 census estimated the African-American population of the United States at 11%.

• The majority of men who fought in Vietnam were not conscripted.
they volunteered. More than three quarters of the men who fought in Vietnam volunteered to join the army. Of the approximately 8.7 million soldiers who served in the army between 1965 and 1973, only 1.8 million were conscripted. 2.7 million servicemen fought in Vietnam at that time. Only 25% of these 2.7 million were conscripted and only 30% of combat deaths during the war were enlisted.

• Most Vietnam veterans are not crazy, homeless and drug addicts.
There is no difference in drug consumption between Vietnam veterans and non-Vietnamese veterans in the same age group. 97% of Vietnam veterans hold honorable discharges and 85% of Vietnam veterans have successfully transitioned to civilian life. The unemployment rate for Vietnamese veterans was just 4.8% in 1987, compared to 6.2% for the rest of America.

• No American unit ever went into combat during this 10-year war.
It reflects the character and pride of our soldiers despite the negative aspects we have faced.

“Thus, the cowardice implied in the article is contrived.

“As they say, ‘the proof is in the pudding.’ Thus, the referenced 1971 New York Times article was debunked as Vietnam veterans lived their lives. I am serious in expressing that journalists, political commentators and editors need to be questioned and examined from the same way as politicians. The promotion of a false narrative is subject to all humans, and we should have learned by now that they have not been assigned, nor earned the title of “Truth”.

“The comparison between Ukraine and Vietnam has limited truth, however, when it comes to comparing the conduct of Russian soldiers to that of American soldiers who fought in Vietnam, it should be done lightly, not recklessly. .”

My Vietnam is, at its core, a love story, combined with a dramatic and searing account of the Vietnam War experience. This experience is shared with a family member, in the most intimate way possible – a round trip to the battlefields of Vietnam.

Billups’ memoir puts the reader in a pair of combat boots and allows them to see, hear, smell, taste and touch Vietnam’s combat experience in vivid detail. That’s only part of the story.

“Hey dad, please share your experiences in Vietnam?” Naomi’s request set off a journey, 50 years in the past, like a “grunt” into the scorching jungles of Vietnam. Four months later, after completing her memoir, Naomi asked, “Dad, let’s go to Vietnam, just you and me?” Could the ghosts of Vietnam’s past turn into a father and daughter blessing in the present?

George C. Colclough, US Army Colonel Inf (Retired), former President and CEO of Smith & Wesson, said in the book’s introduction, “Just another Vietnam War book? Definitely not, Jack takes you down two roads as he embarks on a remarkable journey with his daughter. First, Jack effectively articulates his story in a way that puts the reader in the boots of a grunt, making him feel what he felt and understand the daunting challenges of those who have walked the jungles of Vietnam.

“Second, Jack and his daughter continued this remarkable adventure as they returned to Vietnam to return to the places where her father had so many vivid experiences. A wonderful story!”

What really sets these bestselling memoirs apart is Billups’ writing style. There is no pretension; nothing seems forced or contrived, invented or embellished. Billups introduces his real-life characters in a way that makes the reader feel intimately familiar with each member of his fledgling band of brothers, warts and all. Billups tells it exactly as it was.

His style continues throughout the second part of the book, describing his return to Vietnam and the jaw-dropping changes now evident in modern Vietnam. One of the highlights of the book’s second half is reunion, bringing together these somewhat innocent young men decades later as grown men. Readers will get a vivid insight, from many perspectives, into how the Vietnam experience has changed the lives of those who have lived through it.

It’s also a compelling memoir that reconciles America and Vietnam, then and now, including the culture shock of seeing Vietnam as it exists today. It offers a heartfelt and heartwarming message to the people of both countries, and a better understanding of what the old song “Ruby” called “that crazy Asian war.”

Readers and critics praised “My Vietnam: A Gift for My Daughter.” It was titled “A Beautiful Journey to Healing” and “A Stimulating and Introspective Memoir of Vietnam.” A reviewer said, “The book was so good that I was sad when I finished it.” Another said: “Jack’s memory of his time in Vietnam was beautifully detailed in his book. Not everyone wants to relive such a terrible page in our American history, but Jack was able to do a wonderful job of speaking about the real events he experienced and returned home in one piece to deliver such a wonderful gift as he gave to his daughter. .”

Another wrote: ‘The book fulfilled my husband’s hopes for a healing response to what our armed forces faced there. My husband usually can’t read much Vietnam War material due to PTSD. He read this in just a few days; it was so good. Thanks to the author for undertaking this topic and telling his story.

The book will make interesting reading for veterans, spouses and children of veterans, and others who have been affected in any way by serving in any branch of the military, as the memoirs include the years before and after his service in Vietnam. , including the effects of his Vietnam tour on his family.

Jack Billups is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at [email protected]. “My Vietnam: A Gift for My Daughter” is available on Amazon in Kindle, paperback, and audio formats. More information is available on the Billups website at https://myvietnambook.com.

About Jack Billups:

As a 19-year-old Army volunteer, Sgt. Jack Billups was awarded the Bronze Star with Attachment V. He was awarded the Air Medal, which went to those who participated in combat air missions. Assigned to the 1st Air Calvary infantry as an M60 gunner, Jack served in the scorching jungles near the Ho Chi Minh Trail along the Cambodian border.

Jack grew up in the 1950s and early 1960s in a peaceful Southern California community populated by many senior citizens and dotted with chicken ranches. He is a reliable and talented “everybody” who does not claim his service in Vietnam, except that he is a patriotic American who did “the right thing” as he saw it. He maintained this attitude all his life. Invited to talk about his military experience by his daughter, he started writing it and ended up exposing forgotten memories and emotions of 50 years of jungle warfare, ending with a trip back to Vietnam with his daughter.

The Onyx Boox Tab Ultra is a new generation of E INK tablets that is quite different from their entire product line of dedicated eReaders and eNotebooks. Onyx has developed new speed modes called BOOX Super Refresh Technology which makes it more responsive than other e-paper tablets in the market. The Ultra’s main selling points are the new camera system featuring OCR technology and also featuring a dedicated GPU to handle games and other media content. Android 11 is the operating system and it has full access to the Google Play Store. It is available for purchase from the Good e-Reader store for $599.

The Tab Ultra features a 10.3-inch E INK Carta HD display with 1404×1872 resolution with 227 PPI. The sides of the bezel around the screen are black, but the backplate has a sleek phantom black color and there’s a stripe on the front of the bezel with that color too, it makes the left side look like it’s a spine of a book. The back is where the 16 MP camera sits. You can take photos of documents, books or manga and edit them with the note taking app.

There is an illuminated display on the front with white and amber LED lights for cool and warm illumination. This lighting system shines on the e-paper screen and not in your eyes, making it a pleasant experience to use with minimal lighting.

You can take notes on the TAB Ultra and it comes with a free Boox Pen 2 Pro. The screen has 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and palm rejection. Onyx has a great note-taking experience that’s great for freehand drawing, taking notes, jotting down your thought process, or editing PDFs. The latency when drawing is very low and there are many templates to choose from for your backgrounds.

Under the hood is a Qualcomm octa-core CPU 662 processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If that’s not enough for you, there’s an SD card slot capable of hosting an additional 2TB of additional storage. You can listen to audiobooks, music or podcasts through wireless headphones or an external speaker with the associated Bluetooth 5.0 standard. However, there are also two speakers you can use and the sound quality is excellent. There are also two microphones, so it’s good for taking audio notes or talking with your friends. Transferring documents, books or PDFs is easy with the USB-C port. One of the good things about the Tab Ultra is the G-sensor, which will automatically rotate the screen, like an iPad. You can surf the web, access cloud storage or download apps as it has 2.4GHz + 5GHz Wi-Fi. It’s powered by a giant 6700mAh battery, which should last around three weeks of constant use. The dimensions are 225x184x6.7mm and weighs 480g.

The Boox Tab Ultra runs Google Android 11 and has full access to the Google Play Store, which comes pre-installed. Users can simply log into their account and start downloading their favorite apps. The built-in e-reader app is really good and supports a myriad of formats, such as PDF, EPUB, PDF-DRM, EPUB-DRM, TXT, RTF, HTML, CHM, DOC, FB2.

The Tab Ultra’s retail packaging is pretty vanilla. There’s a black box with a cutout of the tablet, and on the back is a bunch of tech specs in a dozen different languages. This has always been a big draw to invest in the Onyx ecosystem. Language support is critical to a brand’s success, and because it uses the standard Android language system, no one will be without their native language on the UI and all apps. Inside the box are a Pen-2-Pro, spare nibs, a quick start guide and warranty information, plus a USB-C cable.

A rare photograph taken by British soldiers during the famous attack on the Hejaz (Makkah and Madinah) railway is, together with a collection of over 100 important books, manuscripts and records from 100 AH to the present century, on display at the 41st edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).

HA’s collection of over 100 important books, manuscripts and archives is on display at Peter Harrington, who specialize in finding, selling and buying the highest quality first editions, signed, rare and antiquarian books. , beautiful bindings and library sets.

The collection covers a huge range of fascinating material – from a page from a rare 9th-century Quran executed in a distinctive and unusual Kufic script, to the first work to be collected of early photographs of Mecca and Medina. It also includes rare guidebooks from the 1970s promoting Saudi Arabia and Sharjah as tourist and investment destinations.

Ben Houston, sales manager at Peter Harrington, said they would be bringing rare photos taken by British soldiers in the Arabian Peninsula to the SIBF this year. The rare archive of material includes original photographs assembled by Lt. Samuel H. Brodie, a British soldier who accompanied TE Lawrence in the famous attacks on the Hejaz railway, as well as a copy of the edition of the subscriber of Seven Pillars presented by Lawrence to the same soldier. . The photograph is sold for £175,000, or 317,372 Dh.

The collection of over 150 original photographs, in bulk and in albums (mostly in smaller “snapshot” formats), primarily relates to the Arab Revolt. The photographs contain notes relating to location, personnel, and details of the action, and the majority of them are sepia bromide prints on matte paper.

Highlights include a wealth of wonderfully evocative footage of Brodie’s unit in the field, including Brodie himself, his second-in-command George Pascoe, and attacks on strategically important stations along the railroad from Hejaz.

He added that the collection also includes the following high-value books: Adam Smith’s ‘Wealth of Nations’ worth £275,000 from 1776, and Ibn Sina’s ‘Book of Healing’, written in Arabic and worth £250,000, dated to Friday Jumada I, AH 898, or 13 March 1493 CE.

Participation in the SIBF

“This is the fourth year in a row that Peter Harrington will be exhibiting at SIBF, which remains an important part of the company’s international calendar, providing an always welcome opportunity to reconnect with our GCC customers,” said Ben Houston, Sales Director at Peter Harington.

“Institutional collectors remain an important force driving interest in rare materials about the region, rare works that help document and contextualize the region’s history continue to be sought after. The opening of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, the Sharjah House of Wisdom, the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the highly anticipated opening of future iconic museums such as the Zayed National Museum, have contributed to continued interest in the constitution of national collections.

This, in turn, stimulates demand and resources for the development and expansion of resident rare book collections, which should have a ripple effect on the market for private collectors. We are encouraged to see our list of private collectors continue to grow, with interest ranging from seminal rare works to niche items such as original children’s book artwork.

The Sharjah International Book Fair continues to raise the profile of the rare book world and provides an excellent opportunity to experience first-hand collector trends in the region. »

He adds: “The Middle East currently accounts for around 10% of our international sales, and we were delighted to have been able to welcome many of our friends from the region back to our stores in London this summer as international travel picks up. opened again. . After a very successful outing earlier this year in Abu Dhabi, we look forward to continuing that success in Sharjah. »

“Past acquisitions range from individual books in the thousands to organized collections that reach several million dirhams.”

In a ceremony Thursday at the Austin Central Library, Kirkus Reviews announced the three winners of their ninth annual Kirkus Prize in Fiction, Non-Fiction and Literature for Young Readers.

The winners were chosen from the 1,436 books that received the coveted Kirkus star last year, and were selected from a shortlist released last month. Each winner receives a cash prize of $50,000. These winners are:

FICTION:

Hernan Diaz, Trustee

Hernan Diaz, Trust (River)

Statement from the fictional judges: “This year’s finalists are an exciting group, but Hernan Diaz Trust stands out for how it uses multiple perspectives and forms to push the boundaries of what a novel can do. What seems to start as an homage to Roaring Twenties novels unfolds with each successive layer in a complex story of power, love, and the nature of truth. Confidence is a true literary delight.

*

NON-FICTION:

Tanaïs, In Sensorium: Notes for my people

Tanais, In Sensorium: Notes for My People (Harper/Harper Collins)

Statement from the non-fiction judges: “It was a pleasure to spend time with the six finalists. Each is a consummate work of art, of great diversity and immense impact. In overwhelming agreement, we selected In Sensorium of Tanaïs as the winner of the Kirkus Nonfiction Prize 2022 for his audacity, his inventiveness, his vision and his lyrical eloquence. Using the framework of scent and smell, the author’s work confronts aspects of our society related to women, gender, and people of color. Seductive, vital and incomparable, it is a reading experience that endures.

*

LITERATURE FOR YOUNG READERS:

Harmony Becker, Himawari House

Harmony Becker, Himawari House (First Second/Macmillan)

Young Readers Literature Judges Statement: “All of the young readers’ literature finalists represent outstanding achievement in their respective formats and genres, but the judges selected Harmony Becker’s Himawari House for his remarkable mastery of graphic novel conventions and his insightful exploration of emotionally resonant and enduring themes of family, friendship and identity. The brilliance of the book lies both in the authentic cultural specificity that grounds it and in Becker’s creative presentation that welcomes all readers.

HBO’s acclaimed first season game of thrones prequel, Dragon Housegets a home release in the not-too-distant future. Dragon House has been a streaming sensation for HBO Max since its debut in August, with its episodes amassing nearly 29 million viewers each on average throughout the season. For fans who want to do more than just rewatch the first season in the meantime Dragon House to return, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment offers bonus features with a full home version.

House of the Dragon: The Complete First Season was released on several different formats on December 20. The season will be released on Blu-ray and DVD, as well as a physical 4K UHD set. The 4K version will have a standard edition, as well as a limited collector’s steelbook option.

In addition to the 10 episodes of Dragon House, the home release will include over an hour of special features related to the first season, as well as some never-before-seen featurettes about the making of the series. All physical editions will hit shelves at the same time.

The House of the Dragon Season 2

Luckily for fans of Dragon House, this physical release only celebrates a single season, not the entire series. The future is very bright for this game of thrones spin off. Just days after breaking records with its series premiere, Dragon House received a second season renewal by HBO.

At this time, there’s no way to say for sure when season 2 of the series will debut on HBO. The network hasn’t announced a release window, and actual production hasn’t even started yet. But more episodes are definitely on the way.

The scripts for season 2 have been in the works for a while, so Dragon House is now considering the actual filming of the second season. This process should start early next year.

What did you think of Dragon Houseis the first season? Will you be buying the seasonal collection when it arrives later this year? Let us know in the comments!
