1995 Eric Clapton’s documentary ‘Nothing but the Blues’ and companion album released Friday – Everett Post

The 1995 Eric Clapton The documentary Nothing but the Blues, which has only aired once on PBS, got its official release Friday on multiple formats and configurations, along with a soundtrack album.

The film features Clapton presenting and discussing his lifelong passion for the blues. It includes performances from two concerts he played in November 1994 at San Francisco’s famed Fillmore Hall while touring in support of his blues cover album From the Cradle.

Nothing but the Blues is available as a limited edition super deluxe box set and as a standalone DVD or Blu-ray, while the soundtrack has been released on CD and digitally. A two-LP vinyl version of the album will be released on July 29.

The film was produced by Martin Scorsesewho also conducted an in-depth interview with Clapton for the film, in which the British guitar legend talks about his love of blues music and the artists who influenced it, such as muddy waters, BB King and Robert Johnson.

The film has been upgraded to 4K video, while the audio has recently been remastered.

The box set includes a Blu-ray of the documentary, the soundtrack on CD and a set of two LPs, and a bonus CD containing four additional tracks. The collection is presented in an exclusive hardcover book and includes a lithograph, poster, Clapton guitar string set, guitar picks and bandana.

Alongside the Friday release of Nothing but the Blues, a video of Clapton performing the Willie Dixon-the 1957 song “Groaning the Blues” premiered on Clapton’s YouTube channel, where you can also watch a few other clips from the film.
